Info from Class on 4/8

I have decided to make this weeks blog post about class last Thursday. One of my friends was on a field trip and had to miss so this one is dedicated to her.

GESTURE
First we drew short gesture drawings until 12:00, focusing on obtaining correct leg position.

OUTLINE TALK
After this Amy lectured on line construction stating that it is important not to outline what you are drawing. It does not matter if we are doing gestures or longer drawings outlines tend to flatten the work. Outlines, if added to help visual comprehension, should be secondary to the contour and cross contour lines as they are less descriptive of the rounded nature of the 3d form. She mentioned that outlining makes it look like a coloring book. Which made a lot of sense to me because you have to fill in information to make the image appear 3d in a coloring book.
She mentioned ways to stay away from outlining such as picking descriptive long axis lines, similar to how we being our shell drawings. Then it is important to define the form with cross contours.

After this discussion we had a break. And came back to learn about the scapula and clavicle:

SCAPULA:

-Shoulder blade
-Looks like a triangle
-Located from the 2nd to 7th rib (means it is 1/2 the ribcage)
-The acromion process of the scapula is where the clavicle attaches (the curvy part coming off of the triangle is a projection on the scapula. the box shape on the end of this projection is the acromion process)

CLAVICLE:

-Collar bone
-S curve
-Is cone like on the medial side but becomes more flat towards the lateral end.

Then Amy explained many arm and back
